John Fisher Announces Candidacy

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: October 19, 2009

John Fisher announces his candidacy for the Alabama State House for District 63.

“Montgomery and the legislative process are broken. I will focus my efforts on giving the people back their voice in State government. Together we will work to create jobs, assist small businesses, better educate our children, protect our families, balance our budget, and mandate Christian-based ethics in state government. As a true believer in democracy, I will fight for each citizen’s right to cast a vote on matters of great public concern.” – John Fisher

TUSCALOOSA, AL – John Fisher will announce his candidacy for the Republican nomination for the Alabama State House of Representatives for District 63 on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 on the front steps of the Tuscaloosa County Courthouse at 9:00 A.M.

John has been married to his wife Jennifer, for over 15 years. Jennifer is the office administrator for a local medical practice. John and Jennifer are the proud parents of Emma Katherine Fisher who is a competitive gymnast and dancer who attends Rock Quarry Elementary School.

The Fishers are active members at Calvary Baptist Church where both Jennifer and John have taught Sunday School. Since 2002, John has also served as a Deacon at Calvary. John volunteers at First Community Church and has been President and long-time member of the board of Temporary Emergency Services of West Alabama. He is also a member of the Chamber of Commerce and the Tuscaloosa Rotary Club. Fisher is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys hunting, fishing, boating and target shooting.

Fisher decided to run for the House Seat for District 63 when Dr. Robert Bentley declared his candidacy for Governor of Alabama. Fisher’s goal is to ensure that all the people of District 63 have a voice in their state government. Fisher stated “Montgomery and the legislative process are broken. I will focus my efforts on giving the people back their voice in State government. Together we will work to create jobs, assist small businesses, better educate our children, protect our families, balance our budget, and mandate Christian-based ethics in state government. As a true believer in democracy, I will fight for each citizen’s right to cast a vote on matters of great public concern.”

Fisher intends to restore the public’s trust in state government with his no-nonsense, common-sense, back-to-basics approach to solving Alabama’s problems. Fisher plans to reduce wasteful government spending, lower taxes, and require Montgomery to live within its budget.

Fisher, who is an attorney in Tuscaloosa, represents individuals and family-owned businesses in all types of matters. “Everyday, I fight tirelessly for my clients. In Montgomery, I will fight tirelessly for the people in District 63 and for what is best for our State.” Fisher’s ability and experience will help bring an end to the current system of political in-fighting that prevents Alabama from achieving its full potential. Fisher believes that “Together – We will make a difference!”
